Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing -----

On February 1, 2011, Gonzo revealed that a new Last Exile story will be planned. Titled Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing-, it will be released sometime in 2011. The anime will be "a new series of Last Exile [with] new story, [main] characters, and mechanical designs." Koichi Chigira, Last Exile's director, will return to direct the anime. Range Murata and Makoto Kobayashi will also return to provide the series with its unique visual style. Music will again be done by Hitomi Kuroishi.

Four characters, three fifteen-year-old girls and one nineteen-year-old girl, have so far been revealed on the anime's official website: Fam Fan Fan who pilots a small-sized vanship named Vespa, Jizel Collette who is Fam's close friend, Milia il Velch Cutrettola Turan who is a princess of the Kingdom of Turan, and Liliana who is Milia's older sister. The story will revolve around the conflict between the Commonwealth of Adess and the Kingdom of Turan. The MacGuffin will be Exile, but whether it is the same Exile from the original series is not known.
A partial list of voice actors playing some of the characters was released on the official website on March 10, 2011. Fam is voiced by Aki Toyosaki. Jizel is voiced by Aoi Yuki. Milia is voiced by Ai Kayano. The list also includes characters such as Luscinia Hafez played by Kazuyuki Okitsu and Alauda played by Masaya Matsukaze. From the original series, Natsuko Kuwatani, Eri Kitamura and Junko Noda will be reprising their roles as Alister Agrew, Tatiana Wisla and Dio Eraclea, respectively.

The new series is set to premiere in October, 2011 and the opening theme will be "Buddy," by Maaya Sakamoto. Funimation Entertainment has announced that they have licensed the series for streaming and home video release. The US Premiere was at Anime Expo 2011, July 1-4. Melbourne Anime Festival will host the southern hemisphere premiere on August 26 and 27. Animax Asia is set to air this new series on a same-day telecast as Japan. Teaser videos have already been aired on their cable TV and Youtube channel.
